WTF?* (*What the Fresco?) Part 1
Answering All Your Questions About the Art World
I’ve spent the past year+ intensively studying art, art history, cultural events, and global heritage issues. As part of my master in Arts & Culture Management, my partners and I wrote two books to introduce people to the world of art.
Art has always been intimidating to me. There are great artists and magnificent works of art. They say.
But who is “they”? And to what scale are we judging art? What makes a work of art a masterpiece? Or even good? In fact, what IS good? How do you judge that? I wanted to find these things out, and more.
I’ll take you through my journey from art lover to art advisor. I’ve actually been practicing and studying art since I was a child- but that’s a story for another time.
For now I’d like to share with you a couple parts from our e-book, WTF? Answering All Your Questions About the Art World. WTF, of course, stands for What the Fresco. I wrote this with my partners Nechama Hermon, an art historian, and Ashley Ludwig, an arts and culture expert.
We wrote this book using colloquial language, a bit of irreverence, and an open attitude. Our goal is to be inviting, fun, and informative, especially to young adult audiences and people new to the art world. We want to be engaging. We hope you’ll laugh. We hope you’ll google some of these cultural events and make plans to attend. We hope you’ll rush right over to your nearest museum and enjoy it with new eyes. We hope you’ll ask questions and fall in love with the arts.
The book is a graphic design masterpiece! I’m so proud of our colorful and visually pleasing layout. Each page is different and vibrant. It’s fantastic fun to look at. Frankly, it just makes me happy.
Add happy + educational and you get the best art book intro any culturally interested person could find.
Here is the introduction to the book:

In order to understand the creativity that surrounds us, we've cheekily titled our e-book “WTF?” - which of course stands for “What the Fresco?” Because If you’re like us, learning about the arts along the way, you’ll often ask WTF is an art gallery?
